There are several ways to translate an image from a smaller model to the larger working piece. This process simply puts a grid onto the model and magnifies the grid parameters onto the larger piece. It offers only an approximate measurement, but gives a sufficiently accurate proportional estimate for the initial rough cutting.

Once the outside points of the sculpture are marked, all other cuts can be determined with very little potential for mistake. (right)

Whn the design is complex and difficult, making the initial cuts an inch or two away from the final anticipated polish line, allows for a wider variety of adjustments as one moves toward the final stages. (below & below right)
